First Module: Teaching Basic Asanas 

Description: Methods to design and teach beneficial, safe beginner yoga classes for various venues: studios, clubs, fitness centers, community associations, corporate, private. Students will receive a Namaskar Yoga Studio pose manual for training of technique and practice in teaching: cueing, sequencing, transitions, modifications, contraindications, breathing, basic yoga history, philosophy, styles of yoga, teaching styles, basic anatomy and safety. 
Upon completion of training and practice teaching requirements:  participants receive certification to teach Basic/Beginner Level Yoga Classes. 
This training is suitable for those with a regular yoga practice, or Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers, other Fitness/Health/Wellness Practitioners. Individuals who want to attend to deepen their own personal knowledge and practice are also welcome. 

Requirements for Certification: Full attendance at module, regular yoga practice, plus 4 hours mentored practice teaching or equivalent as discussed with Director.

Teaching to Specific Groups Module

Description: Teachers will receive training and practice specific to teaching to various groups of participants for:  Yoga for Gentle, Seniors, and Chair-Assisted Yoga, Yoga for Children, Yoga for Runners and other Sport-specific practice - Yoga for Golfers, Hockey Players, Curlers - and how to develop a yoga program to benefit specific athletes/physical activities. We will also discuss considerations for Prenatal Yoga, styles of yoga, varied venues. This module will include anatomical, physiological and psychological issues and considerations for various participants. We will learn what is involved in developing and delivering effective, beneficial and adaptive classes for these specific groups of participants.

YIN YOGA

Description:  Yin Yoga is a practice which places healthy, gentle, regenerative stress on the connective tissue of the body - tendons, ligaments, fascia.  Postures are practice carefully and mindfully and may be held for longer periods of time to allow gradual and safe restoration of the connective tissues.  The lower body is mainly targeted using passive postures that may feel challenging to maintain.  This calm, beneficial practice is a great counter training to more active styles of yoga, and helps to reduce aches, pains and overall physical and mental tension and stress.  
Please note this is not a Restorative Training
This module is continuing education.  To receive the Certificate you must also be a Certified Yoga Teacher


Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

Description of Training:   Students receive a Prenatal Pose Manual for training and practice of 30 basic prenatal asanas, as well as study of benefits, contraindications, modifications and variations for prenatal yogis.  Students will also have training and practice specific to teaching prenatal yoga: cueing, sequencing, transitions, pranayama, mantras, various teaching styles, and practice teaching.  We will learn methods to design, develop and teach beneficial, adaptive and safe prenatal yoga classes, basic prenatal yoga anatomy and philosophy.  All Yoginis who would like to attend to deepen their personal knowledge are welcome to attend.  Pregnant Yoginis are welcome!

About the Instructors
Cindy Kissick completed her 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training with Namaskar Yoga 2016, and also completed the 18-Hour Yoga for Kids! with Namaskar, and a 45 hour "Yoga for the Special Child - Working with infants and Children with Special Needs" Training.  Cindy works as an Education Assistant at Kerrobert School assisting the Occupational Therapist.  She teaches yoga, stretching, Zones of Regulation, and deep breathing to students.  She is working with Kindersley and District Mental Health and gives presentations to schools on strategies to deal with children's anxiety, stress and depression.
Kathleen Podiluk is a 200 Hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher, with training and certifications in Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.  She is a Registered Lead Yoga Teacher Trainer with Yoga Alliance, and Owner/Director of Namaksar Yoga Studio, Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance.

This workshop is suitable for:  Yoga Teachers, educators, parents, anyone who would like to share the joy of yoga with young people.

Course Description:  In this 18 hour experiential training we will explore how physical yoga poses, breathing exercises, mindfulness and meditation practices, relaxation techniques and yogic philosophy can be adapted to be engaging and effective for different age groups.  With the focus on having fun, you will learn yoga influenced songs, stories and games to inspire children from preschoolers to adolescents.  This workshop will provide practical theory and discussion of age-appropriate teaching techniques as well as active participation in yoga activities for ages 3-13.    You will come away with immediate tangible knowledge and lots of ideas for developing our own fun yoga experiences for young people.  While sharing the joy of yoga you will help children develop life-enhancing skills by introducing practice and philosophy to nurture patience, compassion and happiness in a fun, joyful and non-competitive environment. 
Topics covered:  Breakdown of child development and yoga for little ones, early childhood, middle childhood, early/late adolescence/young adult, sample yoga class practices, developing lesson plans, breathing exercises, learning styles, teaching tips, fun and safety, application of yamas, niyamas and yoga principles, challenges and opportunities, practice teaching.  Along with the 180 page Kids' Yoga Manual students will receive information on resources, teaching aids, lesson plan examples.
About the Instructor: Inspired by her 2 home schooled children to share yoga with her community, Amanda completed her Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Namaskar Yoga in 2011, and has completed a 95 Hour Kids Yoga Teacher training at Semperviva Yoga Vancouver.

In Restorative Yoga participants "consciously relax" the entire body in full supported floor poses; remaining present and observing the release, letting go of any goals, and just allowing full relaxation for healing and resotration.  This workshop is for Yoga Teachers and health/wellness workers who would like to incorporate Restorative Yoga principles and benefits into group or private practice, and also for yogis who would like to learn the benefitsof including restorative poses in their current preatice and every day life.  Definition, history, poses, variations, adaptations, language, cueing, and practice applications.  Suitable for all yogis!

This workshop will be relaxed, inclusive and gentle on the spirit.  It will be designed so you can feel free to honour yourself and your own needs with yoga, deep rest and deep healing.  During the meditations, you will be gently guided into a deep state of meditation, designed to create profound relaxation and personal healing.   This workshop maybe what we need in our busy lives.




YOGA CORE FOR DAILY LIVING AND TRAINING TECHNIQUE AT THE WALL

Description:  Yoga Core for Daily Living: This practical workshop provides a brief introduction to core anatomy along with discussion of the importance of core strength in activities of daily living.  We will learn technique to access deep core muscles then apply the learning to a yoga core class.  Enjoy a fun, safe and non-judgmental environment with modifications for various levels of experience and ability.
Training Technique at the Wall: Yoga offers many benefits but is safe only if our body is correctly aligned when we practice. This interactive workshop explores using the wall to assist training proper alignment in a variety of yoga poses for a safe, successful practice. Lots of opportunity ​for​ practice and take away teaching tips.
